The Giants took Nubin with the No. 47 overall pick in the second round of the NFL draft Friday night. Nubin, 22, spent the past five seasons at Minnesota, tallying 207 tackles, 24 passes defended, 13 interceptions, three forced fumbles, two sacks and a fumble recovery in his time at the U.

Nubin was the first safety selected in the draft.

On Thursday, University of Houston guard Jamal Shead announced exclusively on KPRC 2 that he will be entering the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft.

”I feel like it’s my time to move on. It’s time to go and chase my dreams,” Shead said. ”It was a big decision, my family and coach talked it over and right now I feel like it’s just that time.”

Even after he and the Houston Cougars season was over, the awards still rolled in. Shead was named the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.

He carried the ball four times for 27 yards in the CFP, including a 14-yard burst against Washington. IRVING, Texas (AP) — Houston senior point guard Jamal Shead was voted by Big 12 coaches as the conference’s player of the year after helping lead the top-ranked Cougars to the regular-season title in their inaugural season in the league. Shead, also tabbed as the top defensive player, was the only unanimous pick on the first team announced Sunday. He goes into the postseason averaging 13.2 points, 6.2 assists and 2.3 steals.
